SHOW PREPARATION DAY – Sunday 12th May 2024 – Richard and Pat Burge of Haxton Down Farm, Bratton Fleming, Barnstaple (EX32 7JL) have very kindly agreed to host a Show Preparation demonstration on the afternoon of Sunday 12th May 2024 at 2.30pm.
This will be an opportunity for new and existing members to get together in a relaxed environment to learn all about selecting which animals to show, the basics such as how to put on a halter correctly right through to presenting a ram for showing in his full fleece. There will be the opportunity to have a go at trimming and carding as there will be several showmen and women on hand to guide you through the process.
Refreshments will be served later in the afternoon so we will be in touch after lambing to gather numbers of those who wish to attend. During refreshments, there will be an update on the Sustainable Farming Incentive/Countryside Stewardship Combined Offer and how it affects rare and native breeds.
MEMBERS FARM VISIT – Sunday 18th August 2024 – President, John Witheridge, advised that he and Jan would be happy to host the event at Middle Stoodleigh, West Buckland, Barnstaple, which was appropriate as they had won the Large Flock section of the Flock Competition in 2022 – More details to follow.
